When to go

The Moiry Dam, with its lake and glacier in the background

A wall built from 1954 to 1958

Belalp, Tyndall's summer retreat

From 1877 to 1893, the Irish physicist John Tyndall spends his summers at Belalp, in a villa he had built there. He studies how glaciers flow, and he had made the first ascent of the Weisshorn in 1861.
